This is a three session handbuilding level 1 and 2 course. Handbuilt pottery is pottery made without use of the pottery wheel, using pottery techniques such as press and drape molding. Each session is two hours, once a week, taught at my studio in Simpsonville (Whitehall Plantation). Class dates: Saturdays 2/15, 2/22, 3/1 10:00am-12:00pm. Adults and kids age 10 and over are welcome.
Level 1 Students will make a four piece tableware set including: Large plate, small plate, side bowl, and mug with handle.
Level 2 Students can add onto their four piece tableware set examples include: Medium sized vase, Charcuterie board or serving tray, serving bowl, and pitcher. Level 2 students can glaze these additional pieces to match their original Level 1 set if desired.
The idea of cohesion, and applying personal design to each tableware set will be addressed.
Price includes instruction, tools and materials, clay, glazes, and kiln firing fees. Firing fees include firing the four tableware pieces.
